Chapter 8
Introduction
The main focus of Chapter 8 will be an overview of some of the issues associate with project management. Many good books written on project management, so we wont try to make you an expert in one chapter. Many technical people are simply not good planners. We are great doers and carry out technology implementation at break neck speeds. But projects of this type take serious consideration and need to be well thought out if they are to be implemented successfully. Therefor, the goal of this chapter to introduce you to some of the project planning issues you may want to look into further.

In this chapter we provide an overview of some of the issues associate with project management. As stated, we did not try to make you an expert in the art of project planning. However, we did try to bring to your attention many of the project planning related functions that you should be bringing to your migration. Obviously, the size and scope of the project will dicdate the size and scope of your plan so you will need to adjust it accordingly. There is such a thing as over planning! Eventually, you just have to do it.
